Job summary

Premier’s Department is seeking an Associate, Capability Development in NSW to strengthen emergency management capability. You will help shape policy, design training programs, and support learning initiatives across government, contributing to preparedness and community safety.

The role involves stakeholder engagement, continuous improvement, and delivering practical curriculum resources. This position is based in Sydney with a Clerk Grade 7/8 salary and generous superannuation.

Qualifications

• Policy & Reform experience in policy development, strategic initiatives or capability programs.
• Knowledge of emergency management frameworks and operational environments.
• Ability to coordinate priorities and deliver high-quality work within tight timeframes.
• Strong communication and relationship-building across government and stakeholders.
• Ability to analyse information and provide evidence-based recommendations.
• Experience designing or supporting training, learning or capability-building initiatives.
• Team player who shares knowledge and contributes to success.
• Experience using learning management systems is highly regarded.

Responsibilities

• Shape NSW emergency management capability through policy development, training initiatives and continuous improvement programs.
• Work on high-profile whole-of-government projects to strengthen preparedness, response and recovery outcomes.
• Support the design and delivery of the NSW Emergency Management Curriculum and learning resources.
• Translate lessons learned into practical improvements and contribute to workshops and exercises.
