Job summary

Experis Australia Pty Ltd. is seeking a Cyber Threat Analyst to join a federal government program in Canberra. The role focuses on proactive threat hunting, incident response, and threat intelligence across networks, endpoints, and cloud environments.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in cyber threat hunting, incident response, threat intelligence, or digital forensics.
• Strong knowledge of Microsoft Defender, KQL, SIEM/EDR platforms, and security monitoring tools.
• Experience with malware analysis, threat modelling, and intrusion detection.
• Knowledge of PSPF, ISM, Essential Eight, and NIST.
• Strong scripting and automation skills using PowerShell and/or Python.
• Experience working across Windows, Linux, Active Directory, Entra ID, and cloud environments.

Responsibilities

• Conduct proactive threat hunting across networks, endpoints, and cloud environments.
• Investigate suspicious activity, cyber intrusions, and security incidents.
• Perform threat modelling, intelligence analysis, and adversary research.
• Support incident response activities including triage, containment, and reporting.
• Analyse malware, vulnerabilities, and emerging cyber threats.
• Collaborate with security operations, threat intelligence, and vulnerability management teams to strengthen cyber resilience.
• Produce clear technical reporting and provide recommendations to improve security controls.
