Job description

Rural Generalist | Campbell Town, Tasmania | Sustainable Roster & High Hospital Yield
About the Company

Ochre Health is a national leader in rural medicine, committed to providing the administrative and clinical support you need to thrive. At Ochre Medical Centre Campbell Town, you’ll join a dedicated team integrated within the local Community Health Centre. Working alongside the hospital, you’ll provide essential care to a warm, tight-knit community that truly values its doctors—with the comprehensive backing of our national network so you can focus on meaningful clinical practice.

The Role

Looking for a rural generalist practice that’s actually sustainable? This position perfectly balances primary care general practice with high-yield acute hospital and emergency care. Located within the Community Health Centre adjacent to the hospital, you can commute easily from Launceston, relocate to the heart of the Midlands, or take advantage of an interstate FIFO commitment. Whether you are seeking a full-time residential position, a FIFO roster, or a custom schedule, this is a role where you set the pace in a supportive, high-infrastructure environment with broad-scope clinical autonomy.

Why Campbell Town? (The Historic Heart of the Midlands)

Perfectly positioned as the famous “halfway stop” between Hobart and Launceston, Campbell Town offers a blend of colonial charm and pristine natural beauty:

  • Alpine & Wilderness Escapes: You are at the doorstep of the Walls of Jerusalem and Ben Lomond National Parks. Whether it’s alpine hiking or winter skiing, the Great Western Tiers are your backyard.
  • An Outdoor Paradise: Access world-class trout fishing at Lake Leake and Tooms Lake, or head out for deer hunting, golfing, and bushwalking in the surrounding rolling hills.
  • Paddock-to-Plate Living: Indulge in local vineyards, distilleries, and the legendary scallop pies at the nearby heritage village of Ross.
  • The Best of Both Worlds: Enjoy country peace while being just 45 minutes from Launceston and only 1 hour from the stunning white sands of Swansea and East Coast beaches.
The Perks
  • Total Package Value: An exceptional $510,080 per annum (pro-rata for FIFO/part-time), combining in-clinic billings (up to $310k) with a massive hospital on-call earning pool totaling $200k/year.
  • Flexible Roster & FIFO Options: Open to interstate candidates looking for a FIFO commitment (such as 2 weeks on / 2 weeks off), alongside local residential options.
  • Practice Model: Enjoy the simplicity, continuity of care, and patient loyalty of a Universal Bulk Billing clinic.
  • Relocation & Living Support: A generous House & Car package (valued at $60k) plus an attractive sign-on and relocation incentive.
  • Government Incentives: MMM5 & DPA location—eligible for significant moratorium reductions, WIP payments, and major Tasmanian Government rural grants.
  • Site Visit Grant: A $2,000 grant is available for eligible applicants to come down, see the facility, meet the team, and experience the community firsthand.
Skills & Experience
  • Qualifications: Specialist or General Registration with AHPRA. Vocational Registration (FACRRM or FRACGP) and dual Rural Generalist recognition are highly regarded.
  • Clinical Readiness: Current ALS2 or REST certification for acute hospital, ED, and inpatient care participation.
  • Spirit: An autonomous, community-minded clinician who enjoys broad-scope clinical variety, an intentional pace of medicine, and the occasional home-grown tomato from a grateful patient.
This Is Your Sign

Trade the city rush for world-class trout fishing, crisp country air, and a community that knows your name—whether you’re looking to relocate or commute via FIFO. Campbell Town offers a high-earning, genuinely balanced rural generalist career move just 45 minutes from Launceston.
