Job summary

Sea Swift is seeking a qualified Boilermaker in Cairns. You will perform boiler making work on company vessels, ensuring quality and safety. The role includes maintenance, repairs, and data recording in the maintenance system, with potential travel to remote sites.

The position requires a trade qualification, a valid driver’s license, and strong attention to detail. Supervisory experience and OHSE knowledge are valued assets. A team-focused environment supports training and apprenticeships.

Qualifications

• Trade qualified and able to read technical drawings or specifications.
• Current open driver’s license is required.
• Desirable: Working at Heights Training and Confined Space Entry.
• Good customer service skills are preferred.
• High level attention to detail and accuracy is essential.
• Proven time management skills are needed.
• Knowledge of Occupational Health, Safety & Environmental principles is important.
• Leadership or supervisory experience is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Carry out boiler making work on Sea Swift vessels.
• Assist with repair, maintenance and servicing of Sea Swift equipment.
• Record data and generate accurate job worksheets in the Engineering Maintenance Management System.
• Keep management informed of delays affecting asset servicing or repairs.
• Travel to remote areas for repairs when required.
• Foster training and apprenticeship opportunities within the team.

About the role

The role is responsible for carrying out boiler making work whilst managing the quality and safety of the work performed on the Company’s vessels.

What you will be doing

• Assist with the repair, maintenance and servicing of Sea Swift equipment;
• Readily assist other workshop staff members in their duties;
• Produce accurate job worksheets and recording of data into the Engineering Maintenance Management System;
• Keep affected group managers and supervisors informed of any unforeseen delays in the availability of assets undergoing servicing, maintenance, or repairs;
• Travel to remote areas when required for repairs;
• Provide an environment that is conducive to training and promotes the advancement of apprentices and acknowledges opportunities for school based trainees.
