Job summary

Anglicare Sydney is seeking a compassionate Café and Functions Assistant to contribute to a home-like atmosphere for residents while delivering friendly service. You will prepare food and beverages, operate the POS, handle cash, and support events across our villages, bringing empathy, attention to detail, and barista skills to every shift.

Flexible weekend hours and a commitment to safety with Food Handling knowledge are valued.

Your opportunity

As a Café and Functions Assistant, you’ll be doing more than serving coffee – you’ll be creating an atmosphere that feels like home for our residents!

Your key responsibilities include:

• Delivering top‑notch customer service with warmth and a smile
• Preparing food and beverages with care, including crafting delicious espresso coffee
• Operating our POS system and managing payments effortlessly
• Ensuring the café is always tidy, welcoming, and ready for action – from setup to clean‑up
• Supporting events and activities that bring life to our villages!

What you’ll bring

Empathy to interact respectfully with elderly residents, attention to detail, and knowledge of food safety and hygiene practices. You share our organisational values of integrity, justice, compassion and excellence, and bring them to everything you do.

What’s required:

• Responsible Service of Alcohol
• Working with Children Check
• 6 months experience in food service or front of house experience, along with barista skills
• Family friendly hours availability, including weekends

What’s preferred:

• Food Handling Certificate
• Hospitality and customer service experience
• Your commute is within 20mins of our locations
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• A kind, team-focused attitude and willingness to learn
