Job summary

SYNC’s pioneering prefabrication and manufacturing processes drive the design of high-quality bathroom pods in Melbourne. We seek an experienced CAD Designer to bring designs from concept to manufacture, creating precise 2D/3D models and manufacturing documentation using Autodesk Inventor and Vault at our Laverton North facility.

You’ll collaborate with Design, Project and Production teams to ensure manufacturability, accuracy and smooth production flow, with a strong manufacturing background

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years’ experience in CAD design/drafting within manufacturing or construction.
• Strong Autodesk Inventor and Vault skills are essential.
• Experience producing detailed 2D and 3D models and technical drawings.
• Understanding of manufacturing processes and designing with manufacturability in mind.
• Team player able to collaborate across Design, Production and Project teams.
• Experience designing for CNC machining (steel roll forming, waterjet, joinery or metalwork) is advantageous.
• Qualification in Engineering, Architecture, Industrial Design, Drafting or related discipline preferred.

Responsibilities

• 3D Modelling & Design: Develop accurate 3D models of bathroom pods and assemblies using Autodesk Inventor.
• Technical & Shop Drawings: Produce and maintain detailed drawings for manufacturing and assembly.
• Design & Production Coordination: Align drawings with manufacturing requirements with Production and Design teams.
• Design Review & Problem Solving: Identify clashes and design issues and resolve them pre-production.
• Drawing & Document Control: Manage revisions using Autodesk Vault with version control and traceability.
• Technical Compliance: Ensure drawings meet project specs, Australian Standards, and SYNC design standards.
• Continuous Improvement: Contribute to standardised models and drawing details for efficiency.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Communicate design intent with Project Managers, designers, and production teams.
