Job summary

Aussie Play in Sydney designs and manufactures playground and early learning equipment. We are seeking an experienced CAD Designer to develop new products and custom play solutions from concept to production.

You will produce detailed 3D CAD models and drawings, work with management, production staff and customers, and ensure designs are manufacturable, cost-efficient and safe. Autodesk Fusion experience is essential.

Qualifications

CAD DESIGNER – PLAYGROUND & PRODUCT DESIGN

Ever looked at a local playground and thought, “This is fun, but if only it had an extra-long spiral slide connected to a high-ropes bridge with a hidden spy lookout…”? Same here. While standard CAD drafting keeps the world structurally sound, we’re in the business of building core childhood memories. If you’re a CAD designer who’d rather draft dynamic play towers, custom climbing nets, and wild slide setups than standard steel beams or coffee mugs, this is your drawing board.

Aussie Play is a rapidly growing Australian manufacturer of playground and early learning equipment. We design, manufacture and supply innovative play products to childcare centres and schools throughout Australia.

We are seeking an experienced CAD Designer to join our team and play a key role in the development of new products and custom play solutions.

This is not a purely drafting role. We are looking for someone who understands how products are actually made and can translate ideas into practical, efficient and manufacturable designs.

About the Role

You will work closely with management, production staff and customers to design new products, develop custom solutions and improve existing products. You will be involved from concept through to manufacture, helping ensure our products are innovative, practical, cost-effective and built to a high standard.

Responsibilities

Produce detailed 3D CAD models and manufacturing drawings.

Develop new product concepts and improve existing designs.

Create manufacturing documentation including drawings, cut lists and assembly details.

Work with production staff to ensure designs are practical and efficient to manufacture.

Assist with custom playground and outdoor learning projects.

Participate in prototyping, testing and product development.

Proven experience in CAD design – specifically Autodesk Fusion.

Understanding of manufacturing processes and production methods. This step is vital to ensuring the parts are designed with manufacturing methods in mind from the get go.

Ability to design products that are practical, efficient and cost-effective to manufacture.

Strong attention to detail.

Ability to work independently and solve problems.

Highly Regarded

Experience with:

Sheet metal fabrication.

Timber products and cabinetry.

Aluminium and steel fabrication.

CNC machining.

Product design and development.

Furniture or playground manufacturing.

Australian Standards and compliance requirements.
