Job summary

Indigitise Pty Ltd in Cairns is seeking a Principal Engineer contractor to lead the CA42 Army Marine capability, maintain Defence Seaworthiness compliance, and support assurance activities with internal and external groups.

The role requires a Bachelor of Engineering (Mechanical or Marine), eligibility for Chartered Professional Engineer status, and ITAR approvals. You will mentor engineers, review safety cases, and coordinate across multiple stakeholders in a Defence environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Engineering (Mechanical or Marine) from an Australian institution or equivalent satisfying the Washington Accord.
• Ability to meet Chartered Professional Engineer status or equivalent.
• Experience with ITAR third party retransfer approvals for defense-related projects.

Responsibilities

• Maintain an AEO for CA42 Army Marine capability aligned with Defence Seaworthiness Strategy and Land Materiel Safety Manual.
• Perform ongoing surveillance to maintain CA42 AEO status and support external assurance.
• Assign technical allocation to CA42 Army Marine and SS-EMU Projects Department staff.
• Execute Design Acceptance and Technical Certification for engineering changes per Land Domain Instruction 12-6-007.
• Review and endorse technical plans and safety documents (SEMP, TCP, SCRs, specs).
• Review and endorse safety action plans for RODUM reports.
• Attend and advise on forums (CCBs, System Safety Working Groups, RODUM boards).
• Provide leadership and mentorship to CA42 AEO engineers.
• Liaise with internal and external stakeholders (ALMSPO, SS-EMU, Army groups).

Education

Bachelor of Engineering (Mechanical or Marine) from an Australian institution or equivalent satisfying the Washington Accord

Chartered Professional Engineer status or Fellow/Member of Royal Institution of Naval Architects or equivalent

ITAR compliance experience for defense projects
