Job summary

Woolworths Group in Geehi, NSW, is seeking a permanent full-time Buyer to source high-quality produce and deliver a range that meets customer demand at competitive pricing. You will manage supplier partnerships, drive category growth and ensure stock availability across stores and DCs, with a focus on value, quality and range.

You will negotiate pricing, maintain pricing systems, and lead a high-performing team in a dynamic, inclusive environment.

Qualifications

• Strong negotiation, interpersonal and relationship-building skills to manage supplier partnerships.
• Solid understanding of commercial principles, customer behaviour and category management.
• Excellent verbal and written communication to influence stakeholders.
• Time management and organisational capabilities; proficient with MS Excel and Google Apps.

Responsibilities

• Deliver category growth plans across key financial metrics (sales, profit, inventory) with Voice of Supplier/Customer/Team measures.
• Negotiate competitive pricing and maintain Woolworths pricing systems (e.g., PMR, SAP).
• Monitor DC product quality specifications and communicate seasonal adjustments to internal/external networks.
• Ensure daily store stock requirements are met while managing distribution centre inventory levels.
• Lead, develop and foster a high-performing team culture aligned with Woolworths values.

What you'll do

Part of the buying team to deliver a range that is better for customers, simple to execute and enhances the customer perception of our value, quality & range. The primary role of a buyer is to source high quality produce to meet customer demand at competitive pricing, delivering to target sales, profit, market share & voice of customer objectives.

You will:

• KPI Performance Management: Deliver performance through category growth plans across key financial metrics (sales, profit, inventory) alongside non-financial metrics (Voice of Supplier, Customer, and Team).
• Commercial Pricing & System Accuracy: Negotiate competitive pricing to achieve optimal customer and financial outcomes, while accurately maintaining Woolworths pricing systems (e.g., PMR, SAP).
• Quality Assurance & Stakeholder Engagement: Monitor DC product quality specifications, communicate seasonal adjustments, and build effective relationships across internal and external operational networks.
• Stock Availability & Inventory Control: Ensure daily store stock requirements are met while managing distribution centre inventory levels in line with company standards.
• Culture & Team Leadership: Lead, develop, and foster a high-performing team culture aligned with Woolworths values.

What you'll bring

• Supplier Management & Influencing: Demonstrate strong negotiation, interpersonal, and relationship-building skills to manage and develop supplier partnerships effectively.
• Commercial & Category Acumen: Possess a solid understanding of commercial principles, customer behavior, and category management, with prior experience in buying or replenishment being advantageous.
• Communication & Stakeholder Engagement: Feature excellent verbal and written communication skills to influence stakeholders and collaborate seamlessly within the wider team.
• Organisation & Technical Proficiency: Utilise strong time management and organizational capabilities, backed by computer literacy in MS Excel and Google Apps.
• Adaptability & Continuous Learning: Display a growth mindset with a strong willingness to learn, collaborate, and adapt quickly to changing business conditions.
