Job summary

Woolworths Group is launching an exclusive Assistant Category Manager Accelerator Program starting February 2027. The program is designed to fast-track high-potential individuals into senior buying roles within our Commercial Buying team, aligned with our Fresh Food People ambition.

It features a structured twelve-month journey with on-the-job training, formal learning and 1:1 coaching. Successful candidates will join a multi-stage assessment process over the coming months, with offers targeted

Qualifications

  • Degree in a relevant field such as Finance, E-commerce, Business Administration, Marketing, Economics, Commerce, Supply Chain Management, Retail Management, Statistics, Data Analytics, or Accounting.
  • Strong financial acumen with ability to leverage data and insights to drive sales and profitability.
  • Proactive, results-driven mindset with strong prioritisation skills.

Responsibilities

  • Support to continuously develop alongside a buddy/coach/SMEs to hone sales and negotiating skills, manage strategic initiatives, and deliver targets in sales growth, profitability, and market share.
  • Partner cross-functionally with finance, replenishment, sales activation, stores, and Cartology to gain a holistic understanding of the retail ecosystem.
  • Build partnerships with external suppliers to drive category growth and negotiate key commercials.
  • Assist to deliver strategic promotional campaigns that drive sales growth and market share.
  • Deep dive into customer trends and insights to deliver optimum product ranges and promotions.

  • Partner cross functionally with diverse teams including finance, replenishment, sales activation, stores, and Cartology. Gaining a holistic understanding of the retail ecosystem.
  • Build strong partnerships with external suppliers, bringing innovative ideas and negotiating key commercials to drive category growth in the category.
  • Assist to deliver key strategic promotional campaigns that drive sales growth, profitability, and market share.
  • Deep dive into customer trends and insights to deliver optimum product ranges and promotions that truly resonate with our customers.
