Job summary

Hill Street in Devonport is seeking casual and full-time butchers to join our in-house team. Bring your trade qualification or hands-on experience and a passion for quality food and customer service.

You’ll work with a friendly, experienced team, with opportunities to develop skills and progress. Pay rates under the General Retail Industry Award start at $29.45 per hour and go to $32.00, with penalties for holidays and overtime.

We are seeking both Casual and Full Time experienced Butchers to join our in‑house butchery team in our beautiful Devonport store.

Bring your trade qualification or solid hands‑on butchery experience, along with a passion for quality food and great customer service, to a business that genuinely values skill, teamwork, and growth. You’ll be joining a friendly and experienced team of qualified butchers and assistants, with genuine opportunities to develop your skills and progress into senior or leadership roles over time.

What You'll Need

• Ongoing daytime availability, including every second weekend, with flexibility to suit your needs (store trading hours are published on our website – you are not required to be available across the full span of hours)
• A trade qualification or relevant industry experience
• A friendly attitude and strong communication skills
• A love of working with food and people (customers and colleagues alike)
• Energy, initiative, and a willingness to take and give direction
• The ability to follow company procedures and regulatory requirements
• Physical fitness and stamina, enabling you to stand for long periods and perform manual handling, bending and lifting/moving of heavy items.

Pay rates are set in accordance with the General Retail Industry Award. The base hourly rate for this role ranges from $29.45 to $32.00 per hour, exclusive of penalties.

The hourly rate is negotiable based on skills and experience.

Additional penalty rates apply to public holidays and some overtime and early morning shifts. Please view the full Award for all applicable rates and allowances.
