Job summary

Queensland Health is seeking a Business Manager to provide strategic and operational support to the Infrastructure Asset Management leadership team, driving improvement, workforce planning, governance and service excellence.

You will oversee staff, support transformation, ensure compliance, provide financial insights for decision-making and lead change initiatives across the organisation. This role is based in Queensland, Australia.

As the Business Services Manager, you will provide strategic and operational support to the Infrastructure Asset Management leadership team, driving business improvement, workforce planning, governance, and service excellence. Working closely with senior leaders and stakeholders, you will oversee key business functions, ensure compliance, and help deliver organisational priorities and infrastructure outcomes.

Cairns and Hinterland Hospital and Health Service provide an extensive range of health services at more than 30 regional, rural and remote facilities across a geographical area of 142,900 square kilometres. About your opportunity:

The Business Manager reports to the Director of Infrastructure (Infrastructure and Asset Management) and provides high-level strategic, operational and business management support to the Strategy, Planning and Infrastructure division and IAM Management Team. The role oversees workforce and operational activities, supports service improvement and planning initiatives, and provides advice to senior leadership on organisational priorities and service delivery outcomes. It also ensures compliance requirements are met through effective systems, processes and documentation, while maintaining strong stakeholder engagement and customer-focused administrative services.

In your new role you will......

• Supervise and manage subordinate staff in line with quality human resources management practices with particular reference to employment equity, anti-discrimination, occupational health and safety and ethical behaviours.
• Co-ordinate recruitment activities for all staff, participate in selection processes and oversee the appointment of staff, including orientation and ongoing training and development for all BEMS staff. Including mandatory training requirements, as per QH policy.
• Provide strategic financial insights and recommendations to support decision-making and resource allocation.
• Lead change management initiatives to support organisational transformation and growth.
