Job summary

Carroll & O’Dea Lawyers in Sydney is seeking a motivated fourth- or fifth-year law student to join our Business Law team as a Law Clerk in the Sydney office. This casual position offers two days of work per week and provides hands-on experience in commercial law.

Working closely with a Partner and Senior Associate, you will assist with matter preparation, client communications, and research, while developing practical legal skills and a professional approach in a supportive, team-based

Qualifications

• Must be currently enrolled in a Bachelor of Laws and have completed at least the fourth year.
• Demonstrated interest in Business/Commercial law and long-term career goals in this area.
• Strong attention to detail and excellent organisational skills.
• Ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Willingness to assist with legal and administrative tasks.
• Proactive, positive, and team-oriented approach.
• Professional and empathetic manner when dealing with clients.
• Experience with Microsoft Office 365 and Outlook.

Responsibilities

• Liaising with clients and maintaining professional client relationships.
• Preparation of correspondence, court documents, statements, and subpoenas.
• Assisting with matter preparation and file progression.
• Attending court, mediations and settlements.
• Conducting legal research and court filing as required.
• Extensive file and document management.
• Responding to solicitor and client enquiries.
• Diary management and scheduling support.
• Ad hoc assistance across a broad range of tasks, from basic administrative work to substantive legal matters.
