Job description

Join Transgrid's Delivery Optimisation team as a Delivery Optimisation Business Analyst, where you'll play a key role in shaping how one of Australia's most critical infrastructure organisations uses data, systems and insights to improve operational performance.

This is a role designed to support a growing portfolio of strategic initiatives across our Delivery function. Working closely with operational leaders, workforce planning specialists, reporting experts and frontline teams, you'll uncover opportunities to improve processes, strengthen decision making and deliver meaningful business outcomes.

Far more than a traditional Business Analyst role, this position sits at the intersection of data, business improvement and stakeholder engagement. You'll leverage analytics, reporting and business insight to identify opportunities, influence decisions and help drive operational excellence across the organisation. If you're passionate about turning data into action, solving complex business problems and delivering practical improvements that make a real difference, we'd love to hear from you.

A Day in the Life

No two days will look the same, but you can expect to:

  • Analyse complex operational and workforce datasets to identify trends, risks and opportunities for improvement.
  • Build, maintain and enhance Power BI dashboards that support operational, strategic and executive decision-making.
  • Partner with frontline teams and business stakeholders to understand challenges, gather requirements and translate needs into practical solutions.
  • Facilitate workshops and discussions that uncover opportunities to improve systems, processes and ways of working.
  • Collaborate with technology teams, system administrators and vendors to support enhancements and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Investigate data quality issues, validate assumptions and ensure insights are accurate, balanced and actionable.
  • Contribute to workforce planning, resource optimisation and reporting initiatives that improve productivity and business performance.
  • Support the adoption of new tools, dashboards and processes through stakeholder engagement, communication and training.

Whether you're presenting insights to leaders, engaging with field-based teams or improving reporting that supports critical operational decisions, your work will have visible and lasting impact across the business.

Why this role matters

Delivery is undertaking a significant program of optimisation, planning and reporting initiatives designed to improve how work is delivered across the business. As the Delivery Optimisation Business Analyst, you'll help create the insights and information that underpin smarter decision making, improved operational performance and stronger workforce planning outcomes.

Your work will directly support leaders in understanding where opportunities exist, what actions should be prioritised and how success can be measured. You'll also help increase the team's capacity to deliver strategic initiatives by providing the analytical expertise, reporting capability and business improvement focus needed to transform ideas into tangible outcomes.

Ultimately, this role exists to ensure that data becomes actionable insight, operational challenges become improvement opportunities and strategic initiatives translate into real business value

About You

You're an analytical problem solver who enjoys understanding how organisations work and using data to drive better outcomes.

You may currently work as a Business Intelligence Analyst, Data & Insights Analyst, Reporting Analyst, Workforce Analytics Analyst, Operational Business Analyst or in a similar role where data, stakeholders and business improvement come together.

To Be Successful, You'll Bring
  • Strong experience working with large and complex datasets within operational or enterprise environments.
  • Advanced Power BI capability, including developing meaningful dashboards and reporting that support decision making.
  • A solid understanding of data governance, data quality and the discipline required to translate data into reliable business insight.
  • The ability to investigate problems, challenge assumptions and present balanced, evidence based recommendations.
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to communicate complex information in a way that resonates with both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Experience gathering requirements, facilitating workshops and translating business needs into practical solutions.
  • A proactive, self-starting mindset, with the confidence to work autonomously while collaborating across diverse stakeholder groups.
  • Comfort operating in evolving environments where priorities can shift and adaptability is important.

Most importantly, you're curious, collaborative and motivated by helping people make better decisions through data and insight. Industry experience is valued, but we're far more interested in your ability to bring strong analytics capability, business acumen and a passion for continuous improvement
