Job summary

Amida Group in Sydney is seeking an experienced Operations Manager who also has Business Development Manager skills to lead project delivery and operational performance across civil, defence, fuel and energy sectors.

Based at the head office, you will drive safe, efficient and profitable outcomes while growing the portfolio, managing multidisciplinary teams from inception to completion and strengthening client relationships.

Qualifications

• Tertiary qualification in Engineering, Construction Management or a related discipline.
• Strong experience in senior construction, operations or project management delivering complex projects.
• Proven business development experience is essential for this role.
• Excellent budgets, forecasting, cost control and contract management capabilities.

Responsibilities

• Manage an existing portfolio of works and grow it further.
• Lead multidisciplinary teams delivering complex brownfield and greenfield projects from inception to completion.
• Drive continuous improvement across project delivery processes, systems and performance.
• Oversee project financial performance including forecasting, WIP and cost control.
• Strengthen client relationships and identify growth opportunities for sustainable business.

• Operations Management will be circa 80% and Business Development circa 20% of the role.

Our client is seeking an experienced Operations Manager that also has a Business Development Manager skillset to lead project delivery and operational performance across Sydney as well as grow the business. Based in the Head office, you will drive safe, efficient and profitable outcomes across a diverse portfolio of projects within civil, defence, fuel and energy sectors, while supporting the continued growth of the business.

You will lead multidisciplinary teams delivering complex brownfield and greenfield construction projects from concept through to completion, while driving continuous improvement across project delivery systems, processes and performance.

You will need to demonstrate strong commercial acumen, leadership and stakeholder management skills, alongside experience in project financials, forecasting, cost control and contract management. The role will also involve overseeing bid and pre-contract activities, including tender submissions, contract negotiations and project mobilisation, while ensuring projects are delivered safely, on time and within budget.

The successful candidate must have strong business development skills, with a proven track record of securing new projects and building long-term client relationships.

• Maintain oversight of project financial performance, including reporting, work in progress (WIP), forecasting and cost control.


• Strengthen client relationships, identify growth opportunities and drive sustainable business and financial performance.


• Build and maintain strong relationships with subcontractors, consultants and internal stakeholders to ensure successful project delivery.


• Lead bid and pre-contract functions, including tender preparation, contract negotiations and project mobilisation.


• Proactively identify and manage project risks, ensuring works are delivered safely, on schedule and within budget.

Qualifications and Requirements

• Tertiary qualifications in Engineering, Construction Management or a related discipline


• Proven experience in a senior construction, operations or project management role delivering complex projects


• Strong business development experience is essential for this role


• Great commercial acumen, with experience in budgets, forecasting, cost control and contract management


• Demonstrated ability to lead and develop high-performing teams


• Excellent stakeholder management and relationship-building skills


• Strong planning, problem-solving and decision-making capabilities


• Commitment to safety, quality and continuous improvement


• Experience in the civil, defence & renewable sectors, will be highly regarded
