Network Rail Consulting (NRC) is seeking an accomplished senior leader to join as Business Development Director for Australia, shaping NRC’s growth, building executive-level client partnerships, and leading pursuit of high-value opportunities across the rail sector.

Based in Brisbane, Sydney or Melbourne, you will lead NRC’s BD strategy across Rail Operations, Asset Management & Maintenance, Project & Program Management, and Advisory & Strategic Planning, driving sustainable commercial growth.

• Extensive business development leadership experience within professional services or consulting.
• Deep knowledge of the Australian rail market with a strong network of C-suite relationships.
• Proven track record of winning multi-million-dollar bids and achieving growth targets.

About the opportunity:

We are seeking an accomplished senior leader to join our team as Business Development Director for the Australian region, shaping and delivering NRC’s growth strategy and strengthening our position across the rail sector. Based in Brisbane, Sydney or Melbourne, you will build executive-level client partnerships and lead the pursuit of high-value opportunities that shape the future of our Australian business.

You will lead NRC’s business development strategy, translating market insight and strategic relationships into sustainable commercial growth across our core service areas, including:

• Rail Operations;
• Asset Management & Maintenance;
• Project & Program Management; and
• Advisory & Strategic Planning.

As the face of NRC to our largest clients and strategic partners, you will:

• Shape and lead NRC’s growth strategy, driving business development from early positioning through to successful contract award;

Experience & Qualifications:

• Deep knowledge of the Australian rail market and a strong network of C-suite relationships;
• Proven track record of winning multi-million-dollar bids and consistently achieving growth targets;
• Exceptional interpersonal, communication and influencing skills across all organisational levels;
• Proficiency in CRM platforms (Salesforce or equivalent) and ability to leverage sales analytics for strategic decision-making;
• Demonstrated resilience, entrepreneurial mindset and ability to perform under pressure; and
• High emotional intelligence to navigate complex stakeholder dynamics and build trust.
• First degree in a relevant discipline; postgraduate qualification (MBA or equivalent) highly regarded;
• Professional certifications in sales, marketing or project management; and
• Active membership in industry or professional bodies.
