Sydney Water is seeking a skilled Business Analyst to turn complex data into actionable insights, helping shape water services for Sydney. This role focuses on operational and management reporting, with emphasis on data quality and stakeholder guidance.

Based in Parramatta with hybrid work, you’ll build dashboards, analyze performance across systems, and provide recommendations to drive improvements while collaborating with diverse teams.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in a Business Analyst or related role.
• Strong SQL and relational database skills.
• Experience with Oracle databases and advanced Excel.
• Exposure to reporting and visualization tools such as Power BI, SAP Business Objects, or similar platforms.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving capability.
• Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Developing and maintaining business performance reporting and dashboards.
• Collecting, auditing, analysing, and interpreting large data sets from multiple systems.
• Providing insights, commentary, and recommendations on business performance trends.

About the Role

This is an opportunity for an analytical and commercially minded professional who enjoys turning complex data into meaningful insights and influencing business outcomes.

This role is responsible for delivering operational and management reporting, analysing business performance, identifying trends, and providing actionable recommendations to stakeholders. You'll play a key role in supporting business improvement initiatives through robust data analysis and reporting.

• Significant experience (5 years plus) in a Business Analyst or related analytical role.
• Strong SQL and relational database skills.
• Experience working with Oracle databases and advanced Excel.
• Exposure to reporting and visualisation tools such as Power BI, SAP Business Objects, or similar platforms.
• Strong analytical and statistical problem-solving capability.
• Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills.
• The ability to translate data into business insights and practical recommendations.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to delivering high-quality outcomes.
