Job summary

Tasmanian Walking Company is seeking Bushwalking Guides for its Kangaroo Island Walk in South Australia. Join a team that delivers immersive wilderness experiences and values safety, hospitality, and environmental awareness.

You will guide groups, share local knowledge, and ensure guests are well prepared, enjoying memorable journeys while maintaining high standards of safety and service. Training starts soon and diversity is welcomed.

Qualifications

• Grounded bushwalking experience in Australian landscapes.
• Ability to interpret landscape, flora, fauna, history for guests.
• Strong customer service, communication, leadership and teamwork.
• Current Wilderness First Aid certification and CPR validity within 12 months.
• Provide RSA (to be certified in the state you will be working in) and food handling knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Identify and manage potential hazards and maintain safety procedures.
• Ensure all guests are prepared and well equipped for trips.
• Complete accurate trip documentation and incident reporting.
• Share engaging stories and interpretive knowledge about the landscape.
• Maintain guest safety and high standards of cleanliness and presentation.

This opportunity is specifically for Bushwalking Guide roles on our Kangaroo Island Walk in South Australia.

About the role:

As a Guide, you will create safe, engaging and memorable experiences for guests, helping them step out of everyday life and into extraordinary wilderness environments.

• Identify and manage potential hazards and maintain strong knowledge of safety procedures and equipment
• Ensure all guests are prepared and well equipped for their trip
• Complete accurate trip documentation, including trip reports, hazard identification and incident reporting
• Share engaging stories and interpretive knowledge about the landscape, wildlife, history and cultural significance of the area
• Maintain a strong focus on guest safety throughout each trip
• Maintain high standards of cleanliness and presentation across guest accommodation and shared spaces

About you:

• Relevant bush walking experience and a good knowledge of the National Parks the walk is situated in
• Demonstrable knowledge and ability to provide interpretation about the area, the flora, fauna, and history to guests
• Well-developed customer service, communication, leadership, and teamwork skills
• Hospitality experience; cooking, food preparation, presentation, and service
• Current Wilderness First Aid (SISSS00126)
• Current Provide CPR (HLTAID009) *must be valid within 12 months*
• Provide Responsible Service of Alcohol (SITHFAB021) * to be certified in the state you will be working in*
• Use hygiene practices for food safety, or equivalent (SITXFSA005)
• Participate in Safe Food Handling (SIXFSA006)
• Light Rigid Licence
• Commercial Passenger Accreditation (CPV) or Mutual Recognition Certificate

Successful candidates must be available to attend training commencing on 26 August 2026.
