Monash Council is seeking a Bushland & Wetlands Officer to join the Bushland & Wetlands Team in the eastern region. The role focuses on managing bushland, wetlands and waterways with high biodiversity value, contributing to community connections with nature and to reserve management programs.

• ACUP or Farm Chemicals Users Certificate is required.

About the Position

The Bushland & Wetlands Team manage a broad range of significant bushland, wetlands and waterways of high biodiversity value which provide important natural places for our community to connect to nature, explore and enjoy.

Tasks

• Revegetation and indigenous garden bed maintenance
• Riparian and wetland maintenance
• Remnant maintenance
• Indigenous planting and seedbank programs
• Fuel reduction in accordance with relevant fire preparedness programs
• Monitoring, protecting, and enhancing flora and fauna values

Skills and Experience

• Experienced in the use of bushland maintenance techniques & equipment
• Enjoy being empowered to contribute to, co-develop, and implement reserve management and operational works programs
• A motivated, team player who is responsible for achieving high-quality outcomes, through self-management and working as part of a large team
• Willingly engage in community events and education such as the supervising "Friends of " groups activities and community plantings on some weekends

Requirements

• Relevant industry tertiary qualification such as Diploma in Natural Resource Management or equivalent demonstrated experience
• Current Victorian Drivers License
• ACUP or Farm Chemicals Users Certificate
• Pre-employment Medical Assessment
• Employee Working with Children’s Check
• Satisfactory National Police Check
• Valid
