Job summary

TAYCON Group Pty Ltd is seeking an experienced Senior Building Surveyor to join our national team in a genuinely fully remote capacity. This senior role offers significant autonomy, with potential for leadership, mentoring and broader involvement in the growth of the consultancy.

You will work on major commercial projects across Australia and provide advanced NCC and Building Code guidance. WA registration support is available for interstate candidates, with travel to WA as needed.

Qualifications

• Unrestricted Building Surveyor registration or equivalent in Australia.
• Experience in commercial Building Surveying and certification.
• Strong knowledge of NCC and Australian Standards.
• Ability to work effectively in a remote environment.
• Leadership or mentoring experience is highly regarded.

Responsibilities

• Provide senior NCC and Building Code advice on commercial projects.
• Assess Class 2–9 buildings against NCC and standards.
• Prepare and review technical reports, certification documentation and compliance advice.
• Manage projects from design through certification and completion.
• Mentor junior team members and contribute to QA/improvement.
• Assist with client relationships and business development.

TAYCON Group is seeking an experienced Senior Building Surveyor from anywhere in Australia to join our team in a genuinely fully remote position.

If you hold unrestricted Building Surveyor registration, accreditation or an equivalent qualification in an Australian jurisdiction, we would like to hear from you.

You do not need to be based in Western Australia.

For the right interstate candidate, TAYCON will provide support with obtaining WA registration and familiarisation with Western Australian building legislation and certification processes.

About the Role

Reporting directly to the Managing Director, you will provide senior technical Building Surveying expertise across a broad portfolio of commercial projects.

This is a senior role with significant professional autonomy.

Depending on your experience and career aspirations, the position can extend beyond project delivery to include team leadership, mentoring, operational input, client management and involvement in the continued development of TAYCON Group.

Your responsibilities may include:

• Providing senior NCC and Building Code advice across commercial and complex projects.
• Assessing Class 2–9 buildings against the NCC and relevant Australian Standards.
• Preparing and reviewing technical reports, certification documentation and compliance advice.
• Managing projects from design development through certification and completion.
• Developing practical compliance strategies with architects, fire engineers, access consultants and other project stakeholders.
• Reviewing Performance Solutions and project-specific compliance risks.
• Providing technical guidance and mentoring to Building Surveyors and junior team members.
• Contributing to quality assurance and continuous improvement.
• Assisting with fee proposals, client relationships and business development.
• Providing input into project allocation, workflow, resourcing and programme delivery.
• Working directly with the Managing Director and senior team to help shape the continued growth of the business.

About You

We are looking for an experienced Building Surveyor who enjoys technically challenging work, professional autonomy and being part of a collaborative team.

Ideally, you will bring:

• Unrestricted Building Surveyor registration, accreditation or an equivalent qualification within an Australian jurisdiction.
• Significant experience in commercial Building Surveying, building certification or Building Code consulting.
• Strong technical knowledge of the NCC and relevant Australian Standards.
• Experience assessing complex Class 2–9 buildings.
• Strong written communication and technical reporting skills.
• Sound professional judgement and commercial awareness.
• The ability to independently manage projects and client relationships.
• A practical, collaborative and solutions-focused approach.
• The ability to work effectively in a remote professional environment.

Experience in leadership, mentoring, operational management or business development is highly regarded, but not essential.

We are equally interested in experienced Senior Building Surveyors who are ready to take the next step in their career and want greater responsibility, autonomy and influence.

Previous experience working under Western Australian building legislation is not essential.

TAYCON will support suitable interstate candidates with WA registration and provide assistance becoming familiar with local certification requirements.
