Job summary

Lake Macquarie City Council is seeking a registered Building Surveyor to deliver certification and development assessment services that support safe, sustainable, and high-quality outcomes for our growing city.

You will advise customers, developers and stakeholders, guide development applications, determine certificates, and uphold legislative requirements with professionalism and sound judgement.

Qualifications

• Degree or Graduate Diploma in Building, or another relevant qualification.
• Registration with NSW Fair Trading as a Building Surveyor (restricted Class 1 and 10).
• Experience in development assessment and certification.
• Strong knowledge of relevant legislation and regulatory requirements.
• Ability to manage competing priorities while maintaining quality outcomes.
• Well-developed communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
• Commitment to delivering exceptional customer service.

Responsibilities

• Assess development applications, construction certificates and complying development certificates.
• Act as a Registered Certifier and Principal Certifier in accordance with relevant legislation.
• Provide clear and practical technical advice to customers and stakeholders.
• Work collaboratively to achieve positive and timely development outcomes.
• Manage compliance and regulatory matters with professionalism and sound judgement.
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across the service.

As a Building Surveyor, you'll play an important role in delivering certification and development assessment services that support safe, sustainable and high-quality development outcomes.

You'll work closely with customers, developers, industry professionals and internal stakeholders, providing practical advice and helping navigate the certification process with confidence.

This exciting role will:

• Assessing and determining development applications, construction certificates and complying development certificates
• Acting as a Registered Certifier and Principal Certifier in accordance with relevant legislation
