Job summary

St George Community Housing is seeking a permanent Building Compliance Specialist to lead compliance and essential services across its portfolio in NSW. You will oversee fire safety measures, manage contracts and budgets, and drive continuous improvement with regulators, contractors and internal teams.

Based at SGCH in Sydney and with travel to SGCH locations as required, the role reports to the Compliance and Fire Safety Manager.

Qualifications

• Tertiary qualifications in building surveying, fire safety, construction, or related field.
• A NSW Driver Licence and willingness to travel to SGCH locations.
• Experience in building compliance, maintenance contracts, contractor KPIs, budgets, risks, EFSMs, critical assets and regulatory requirements.
• Strong knowledge of the Building Code of Australia, Australian Standards, WHS and Residential Tenancy legislation.
• Excellent analytical, reporting and stakeholder engagement skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead building compliance and essential services programs.
• Manage contractor performance, KPIs and service delivery.
• Conduct compliance audits, inspections and reviews.
• Ensure statutory and fire safety obligations are met.
• Oversee essential fire safety measures and critical assets.
• Monitor budgets, invoices and contract expenditure.
• Identify and mitigate compliance and operational risks.
• Maintain accurate compliance, asset and reporting records.
• Manage regulatory matters and NCAT access applications.
• Provide specialist compliance and fire safety advice.
• Drive continuous improvement and process optimisation.
• Build strong relationships with contractors and stakeholders.
