Job description

Role Snapshot

Role: Broadcast Rigger

Location: Brisbane, with work at sites across Queensland

Work Type: Full time, with regular travel and time away from home

Package: Competitive base, superannuation, site uplift and an annual performance bonus

Licences: High Risk Rigging Licence, Working At Heights and Tower Rescue

Why You Will Be Excited About This Role

Few trades put you this close to the structures a whole state relies on. As a Broadcast Rigger you will climb, build and maintain the towers that carry radio and television into homes across Queensland. The same sites keep emergency services connected when a storm or flood takes everything else down. Your work will matter, and you will see it standing on the skyline.

You will move between large broadcast towers, antenna systems, transmitter sites and underground works, so no two weeks look the same. Your hands on skill with feeders, waveguides and antennas becomes the base for taking charge of parts of a project, with an experienced team leader backing you. The business is growing, including into critical communications and resources work, so the range of sites and systems you can build experience on keeps widening.

  • Site uplift and an annual performance bonus on top of superannuation, so the effort you put in shows up in your pay
  • Variety that keeps you learning, from broadcast towers and earth station antennas to transmitters and underground cabling
  • Responsibility that grows, with the chance to take charge of components of a project as you prove yourself
  • Full time work with an established owner and operator of national communications infrastructure
  • Work with real purpose, because the sites you maintain keep communities informed and emergency services connected
Why You Will Like Working Here

You will join a team of Riggers who work side by side, so you are never on a tower alone. Your team leader guides the work, shares the load and gives you room to take on more. Jobs are done the right way, using manufacturer approved methods and clear company procedures, so you can be proud of the finished site.

The business owns and operates broadcast, public safety and in building coverage networks across the country. That scale gives you stable work, a wide mix of sites and a clear view of how your part fits into something bigger.

  • A crew environment where experienced Riggers and a Team Leader work through each job together
  • Digital inspection templates and company systems that keep your reporting quick and consistent
  • A bonus that recognises your performance each year, so good work does not go unnoticed
  • Respected work, because broadcasters and emergency services depend on the sites you keep running
What You Will Be Working On

You will install, maintain and inspect radio, broadcast and telecommunications structures across Queensland. Here is the detail that sets this role apart.

  • Large broadcast towers: working at height to install, dismantle and maintain masts, towers, poles and associated plant
  • Feeder and antenna work: terminating and installing feeders, waveguides and coaxial cable, then fault finding on antennas, tails and feeders
  • Structure checks: tower and mast verticality, plus site inspections completed on digital devices to company standards
  • Ground works: directing and overseeing concrete pours, installing and inspecting underground duct, cables and earthing, and marking out sites to tolerance under your team leader's guidance
  • Broadcast systems: earth station antennas, rigid line, EME surveys and low power and high power transmitters, where you assist and learn from specialists
  • Vehicles and mechanical aids: operating them wherever you hold the relevant ticket
  • Time away: working as part of a team in remote areas for extended periods, with accurate timesheets and leave kept up to date
What Type of Person Will Be Successful

You are an experienced Telecommunications Rigger or Technician who is confident at height, careful with technical and structural plans, and happy to spend extended periods on the road with a crew. You communicate clearly in writing and in person, and you take pride in doing the job properly.

Experience And Skills
  • Proven experience across the work described above, including towers, feeders, waveguides and antennas
  • Able to read, understand and work from structural and technical plans
  • Strong written and verbal communication
  • Available to travel extensively
  • Able to pass regular medical assessments that confirm you are fit to climb
