Responsibilities

• Drive on interstate linehaul routes between Brisbane, Adelaide, Sydney and Melbourne.

• Maintain safety compliance and report defects or incidents promptly.
• Coordinate with dispatch and warehouse staff to meet schedules.
• Load/unload freight as required and uphold professional conduct.

Job description

Semmens Transport is seeking experienced Brisbane/Sydney MC Linehaul Drivers to join our growing team. This is a full-time position based in Darra, QLD 4076, offering the opportunity to operate on major interstate routes between Brisbane and Sydney. As a Linehaul Driver, you will be responsible for the safe and timely transportation of freight across these key corridors, playing a vital role in our logistics operations and ensuring our customers receive their goods reliably and efficiently.

Key responsibilities

• Operating articulated or rigid trucks on interstate linehaul routes between Brisbane, Adelaide, Sydney and Melbourne
• Safely transporting freight in compliance with all road transport regulations and company policies
• Conducting pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections to ensure mechanical safety and roadworthiness
• Maintaining accurate logbooks, delivery documentation and vehicle maintenance records
• Adhering to prescribed driving hours and rest period regulations
• Communicating effectively with dispatch, warehouse staff and customers regarding delivery schedules and requirements
• Loading and unloading freight as required, or coordinating with warehouse teams
• Maintaining professional appearance and conduct when interacting with customers and the public
• Reporting any vehicle defects, accidents or safety concerns promptly to management
• Contributing to a safe and positive workplace culture

What we're looking for

• Valid MC (Multi-Combination) or HC/HC/MC licence currently held and in good standing
• Current Heavy Vehicle Driving Authorisation from the relevant state authority
• Proven experience as a linehaul or long-haul truck driver on interstate routes
• Excellent knowledge of Australian road transport regulations and fatigue management laws
• Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to conduct basic vehicle maintenance checks
• Outstanding safety record with no serious traffic violations or demerit points
• Ability to work independently and make sound decisions in challenging conditions
• Strong communication and customer service skills
• Physical fitness and ability to perform manual handling tasks as required
• Reliable, punctual and professional attitude with a commitment to safety
• Familiarity with modern transport management systems and GPS technology (preferred)
• First aid or advanced first aid certification (preferred)
