FMS Group is seeking experienced and safety-focused Boilermakers for a shovel shutdown at Mt Thorley, NSW. Casual, temporary work during November/December 2026 with high-quality fabrication, welding and maintenance in a fast-paced mining environment.

Trades-qualified applicants with shovel shutdown experience, ability to read drawings and pass site safety checks are encouraged to apply. Current medicals and tickets, plus drug/alcohol tests, are required.

Qualifications

• Trade qualification as a Boilermaker or equivalent recognised trade qualification.
• Demonstrated shovel shutdown experience in the mining industry.
• Proven welding, fabrication, structural repair, and maintenance experience on mining shovels.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specs.
• Strong commitment to safety, quality workmanship and teamwork.
• Must hold Order 43 or 45 medical (site dependent).
• Ability to pass ongoing drug and alcohol testing.
• Current Working at Heights, Confined Space, and Gas Test Atmosphere tickets.

Responsabilités

• Carry out shutdown maintenance, fabrication, welding, and repair works on shovels.
• Perform structural repairs, modifications and component replacements.
• Complete welding, cutting, grinding and fabrication to specs.
• Read and interpret engineering drawings, plans and specs.
• Inspect shovel components, identify defects and repair as required.
• Collaborate with Fitters, supervisors and trades to meet targets.
• Adhere to site procedures, safety standards and quality requirements.
• Maintain high safety focus and workmanship during the shutdown.

About the Role

FMS Group is seeking experienced and safety-focused Boilermakers to join our team for an upcoming Shovel Shutdown at Mt Thorley, NSW.

We are looking for trade-qualified Boilermakers with proven shovel shutdown experience who take pride in delivering high-quality fabrication, welding, and maintenance work safely and efficiently, getting the job done right the first time.

This is a temporary shutdown opportunity, with work available for the duration of the shutdown during November/December 2026. Successful candidates will join a high-performing maintenance team, contributing to the safe and efficient delivery of shovel maintenance and repair works in a fast-paced mining environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Carry out shutdown maintenance, fabrication, welding, and repair works on shovels at Mt Thorley, NSW
• Perform structural repairs, modifications, and component replacements as required
• Complete welding, cutting, grinding, and fabrication tasks to the required specifications and quality standards
• Read and interpret engineering drawings, plans, and technical specifications
• Inspect shovel components, identify defects, and carry out repairs as required
• Work collaboratively with Fitters, supervisors, and other trades to achieve shutdown targets and deadlines
• Ensure all work is completed in accordance with site procedures, safety standards, and quality requirements
• Maintain a strong safety focus and high standards of workmanship throughout the shutdown

What You'll Bring

• Proven experience in welding, fabrication, structural repairs, and maintenance of mining shovels
