Karara Mining Limited (KML) invites skilled Boilermakers to join our Port Maintenance team at the Karara Export Terminal in Western Australia. This residential day-shift role operates on an 8 days on, 6 days off / 7 days on and 7 days off roster, focusing on planned and unplanned maintenance and assisting in planning the scope of work for maintenance tasks.

The position requires a trade qualification in Fabrication (Boilermaker/welder) or equivalent, relevant tickets (DG, RB, WP), and experience

Qualifications

• Trade Qualification - Fabrication (Boilermaker/welder) or equivalent.
• Tickets - Dogging (DG), Basic Rigging (RB), Elevated Work Platform (WP).
• Confined Space Entry & Working at heights.
• Demonstrated post-trade mining/heavy industry experience in a process plant.
• Strong understanding of scheduled maintenance systems and work order processes.
• Police clearance for MSIC.

Responsabilités

• Carry out SAP maintenance tasks including scheduled and unscheduled maintenance.
• Create maintenance notifications for future, corrective, and preventative work.
• Add comments to work orders post-completion with improvement suggestions.
• Close work orders in SAP after tasks are completed.
• Perform work according to manufacturer standards and quality requirements.
• Identify and communicate improvement opportunities in all work areas.
• Prioritise and plan daily workloads to meet deadlines.
• Inspect and scope jobs, review plans, and identify tools needed for efficient, safe completion.
• Conduct risk assessments and complete safety documentation before maintenance.
• Support development of maintenance scopes with the planning team to enhance equipment availability and reduce downtime.

Karara Mining Limited (KML) is an Ansteel Group company formed as a joint venture with Gindalbie Metals Limited. Ansteel is one of the largest iron ore producers and steel makers in China. Located 200km south-east of Geraldton, Western Australia, Karara is the largest mining operation and the first major magnetite mine in the Mid-West. It produces a premium, high-grade concentrate product for export to steelmakers.

The opportunity

We are looking for skilled and experienced Boilermakers to become a part of our Port Maintenance teams at the Karara Export Terminal. The position involves both scheduled and unscheduled maintenance activities, as well as assist in planning and defining the scope of work for maintenance tasks, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.

This residential role operates on a day shift only roster of 8 days, and 6 days off / 7 days on and 7 days off.

To be successful in the role, the following is essential:

• Trade Qualification - Fabrication (Boilermaker/welder) or equivalent
• Tickets - Dogging (DG) Basic Rigging (RB) Elevated Work Platform (WP)
• Confined Space Entry & Working at heights
• Demonstrated post-trade experience in the mining or heavy industry within a process plant environment
• Strong understanding of scheduled maintenance systems and work order processes
• Demonstrated ability to undertake problem-solving investigations and reviews
• Demonstrated ability to plan work in line with predicted operational requirements
• Understanding of generic process plant policies, procedures, risk assessment, and management systems
• National Police clearance is required to obtain MSIC

To be eligible to apply for this role you must be residing in the Geraldton area.

About Karara Export Terminal

Enabling movement to the Karara Export Terminal at the Port of Geraldton, Karara owns and operates an 80 km railway linking Tilley Junction to the mine site in the Shire of Perenjori. The terminal is capable of processing up to 16 million tonnes of export products annually from a dedicated berth, with supporting rail and train unloading infrastructure.
