Job summary

SAHMRI is seeking a Biostatistician for the ANZORRG reporting and analytics team in Adelaide. You will provide statistical support across registry data, research projects and external requests, using methods suited to complex health data and predominantly Stata.

You will work with biostatisticians, data intake and registry staff, contributing to quality improvement and publication outputs while meeting regulatory requirements and deadlines.

Qualifications

  • Relevant degree in statistics, biostatistics or related discipline.
  • Experience analysing complex health data.
  • Experience using statistical software, particularly Stata.
  • Ability to interpret and communicate statistical findings clearly.
  • Postgraduate research degree (Master/PhD) preferred.
  • Experience with registry or health datasets is desirable.

At the South Australian Health and Medical Research Institute (SAHMRI), we are committed to achieving innovative, ground-breaking health and medical research that fundamentally improves the quality of life for all people.

The Australia & New Zealand Organ Replacement Therapies Registry Group (ANZORRG) at SAHMRI is seeking a Biostatistician to join its reporting and analytics team. ANZORRG comprises Clinical Quality Registries that collect, analyse and report data relating to organ donation and replacement therapies, supporting improved patient outcomes and informing clinical practice across Australia and Aotearoa New Zealand.

In this role, you will provide statistical support across internal reporting, quality improvement initiatives, research projects and external data analysis requests. You will contribute to a range of analyses, including quality assurance reporting and research outputs, using statistical methods appropriate to complex registry data. Most analyses are currently performed using Stata.

Reporting to the Lead Biostatistician, you will work closely with biostatisticians, registry research staff, the data intake team, the operations committee, registry executives and the General Manager. You will also liaise with external stakeholders, including registry contributors across Australia and New Zealand and collaborating research groups.

About the role

Key responsibilities include:

  • Providing accurate and timely statistical analysis for ANZORRG Registries, including requests from contributing units, collaborators, government bodies and academic organisations
  • Performing statistical analyses for research projects undertaken within ANZORRG
  • Interpreting and explaining statistical results clearly, both verbally and in writing
  • Supporting biostatistical analysis across ANZORRG, including survival analyses, analysis of rates, and multiple logistic and linear regression
  • Contributing to reporting, research outputs and quality improvement activities
  • Ensuring analysis and reporting activities comply with SAHMRI policies, standard operating procedures and relevant regulatory requirements
About You

The successful candidate will possess the following key attributes:

  • A relevant degree in statistics, biostatistics or a related discipline
  • Demonstrated experience analysing complex research or health data
  • Experience using statistical software, particularly Stata
  • The ability to interpret and communicate statistical findings to a range of audiences
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • The ability to work collaboratively with researchers, clinicians, statisticians and external stakeholders
  • Strong organisational and time management skills, including the ability to meet deadlines
  • The ability to contribute to statistical sections of research papers, reports or related outputsEfficient time management skills, to ensure a high quality of work is completed within required time frames.
  • A postgraduate research degree, such as a Master's, PhD or equivalent
  • Previous experience working with registry or health-related datasets
