Qualifications

  • Associate Diploma or Diploma/Advanced Diploma in Engineering.
  • Licences and accreditations to carry out activities in discipline areas, or willingness to obtain them within 6 months.
  • Hold a C class driver's licence to drive Queensland Health vehicles.
  • Expert knowledge in maintenance, repair, installation, commissioning and technical support of health technology equipment.
  • Proven leadership ability to plan, schedule, coordinate and deliver technical service.
  • Strong communication with diverse stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate service delivery activities and manage work priorities and schedules.
  • Oversee external service providers and ensure SLAs and technical standards are met.
  • Provide technical supervision and staff development.
  • Build strong relationships with clinical staff, suppliers and stakeholders.
  • Drive continuous improvement through development of standards, procedures and training.
  • Collaborate across the organisation for state-wide improvements.

Job description

As the Biomedical Technician Advanced, you will deliver specialised technical services for a diverse range of health technology equipment, including installation, commissioning, complex repairs, and preventive maintenance. You will apply advanced technical expertise to independently diagnose and resolve complex equipment and system issues, ensuring the safe and reliable operation of critical healthcare technologies. In this leadership-focused role, you will coordinate service delivery activities, manage work priorities and schedules, oversee external service providers, and ensure compliance with service level agreements, policies, and technical standards. You will also provide technical supervision and support to team members, contribute to staff development and performance management, and build strong relationships with clinical staff, suppliers, service providers, and key stakeholders. Working collaboratively across the organisation, you will play an important role in driving continuous improvement through the development of technical standards, procedures, training programs, and workplace practices at both a local and state-wide level.

About you

We are searching for someone who has:

  • An Associate Diploma (generally graduating prior to the year 2000) or a Diploma or Advanced Diploma (or equivalent) (Year 2000 onwards), tertiary, or equivalent formal qualification(s) in the field of Engineering.
  • The licences, certifications and accreditations required to carry out activities within the relevant discipline areas, or willingness and ability to make significant progress towards obtaining such during the first 6 months of employment. For example: Restricted Electrical Work Licence.
  • A “C” class driver's licence. You will be required to drive Queensland Health vehicles as part of general duties.
  • Proven expert level of knowledge and skill in the maintenance / repair, installation, commissioning and technical support of health technology equipment, including dialysis equipment and/or associated technology.
  • Proven ability to provide leadership and to apply independent judgment and initiative to effectively plan, schedule, coordinate and carry out technical service delivery.
  • Proven ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of stakeholders, including clinical staff, equipment suppliers, service providers, team members and managers
