Job summary

Wannon Region Water Corporation in Warrnambool is seeking a Biodiversity Officer to protect and enhance the natural environment across our region. The role is full-time, permanent and hybrid, offering a salary of AU$94,275 to AU$102,499 per year, plus super.

You will develop biodiversity and environmental management programs, work with stakeholders including Traditional Owners, agencies and communities, and provide specialist advice on regulatory requirements.

Qualifications

• Tertiary qualifications in Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, Farm or Natural Resource Management or other related disciplines.
• Demonstrated working knowledge of natural resource management and biodiversity issues.
• Strong leadership, stakeholder engagement and relationship-building skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication and time management.

Responsibilities

• Develop and deliver biodiversity and environmental management programs, including land management, fire management and environmental monitoring activities.
• Work collaboratively with employees, Traditional Owner groups, regional partners, government agencies, industry and communities to promote best practice environmental management.
• Provide specialist advice on biodiversity, environmental management, regulatory requirements and environmental approvals, and support managers and employees through training and guidance.
• Manage environmental consultants and contractors, and coordinate the monitoring programs of our bore, recycled water sites and ocean outfalls.
• Build strong external relationships and identify opportunities for collaboration, knowledge sharing and funding, while reporting on environmental outcomes and progress.
