Job description

For over 40 years, our shared commitment to curing childhood cancer has united us. Together, we continue to accelerate the answers to make that possible.

To accomplish our vision, we’re seeking someone who lives our values: owning and delivering meaningful work, collaborating to drive impact, challenging the status quo to create a better future, and balancing logic with empathy. Let’s achieve more, together.

The Liquid Biopsy Biobank Technician plays a crucial role in advancing paediatric cancer research by ensuring the high-quality collection, processing, and biobanking of liquid biopsy specimens (including blood, bone marrow, and CSF). Supporting critical initiatives, including the ZERO program, this role ensures that all time-sensitive biospecimens are processed with stringent adherence to standard operating procedures (SOPs) to preserve genomic and proteomic integrity for downstream molecular analysis.

This role requires flexibility to accommodate clinical sample collection timelines. The successful candidate will be required to work on Saturdays as part of their standard weekly roster (e.g., a continuous Tuesday–Saturday schedule).

To succeed you will have…

  • A Bachelor of Science in Biology, Biomedical Science, Biotechnology, or a closely related field.
  • Demonstrated hands-on experience in a biobanking, pathology, or clinical research laboratory environment.
  • Familiarity with liquid biopsy processing, including handling whole blood, extracting plasma, and preserving cell-free DNA/RNA, is highly desirable.
  • Proven experience using a Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) for detailed sample tracking.
  • Strong understanding of Good Laboratory Practice (GLP) and standard biosafety protocols.

We will support you to be your best with benefits that include but are not limited to:

  • Working in a world-class, purpose-built facility, the only one in Australia dedicated to curing childhood cancer
  • Focus on employee wellbeing, including up to 5 gifted wellbeing days off (paid) per year
  • Access to Fitness Passport, with access to an extensive choice of fitness facilities across Sydney at discounted rates
  • Corporate discounts and discounts on education through UNSW

Join us to shape a future every child deserves and to find meaning in your own. Because together, we can cure every child of cancer. It’s not if, it’s when.
