Job description

About the Company Hall Contracting

Hall Contracting is Australia's leading Dredging and Marine contractor with projects across Australia, South East Asia, and the Pacific Islands. With award-winning capabilities, we pride ourselves on delivering innovative, high-quality solutions while maintaining a strong commitment to our clients, employees, and the wider community.

The Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced Bid Manager to join our Pre-Contract and Engineering team ideally at our head office on the Sunshine Coast. Reporting to the Pre-Contracts Manager, you will take ownership of the end-to-end bid process for marine infrastructure and civil works projects across Australia and internationally.

You will manage bids across a diverse pipeline of marine and civil projects throughout Australia and the Pacific, including wharves, jetties, coastal protection and adaptation, dredging, pumping and rehabilitation works, often for projects in challenging and remote locations.

About You

You will have a working construction knowledge and commercial understanding, with a practical approach to developing and managing bids. You may come from bid management, estimating or project delivery, with experience in marine, dredging or civil construction.

You will be comfortable working across methodology, programme, estimating, risk and pricing, drawing on technical and operational expertise from across the business to develop competitive bids. You will also be confident engaging with clients through presentations, clarifications and negotiations.

To be successful, you will have:

  • An engineering qualification or relevant experience in a construction or engineering environment.

  • Experience in tendering, estimating, construction planning or project delivery, ideally within civil construction, marine infrastructure, dredging or a similar industry.

  • An understanding of construction methodologies, project sequencing, resource planning and the factors that influence project costs and timeframes.

  • Good commercial awareness, including an appreciation of pricing, risk management and project margins.

  • The ability to coordinate input from multiple teams and bring technical, commercial and operational information together into a clear, compelling submission.

  • Strong communication, organisation and stakeholder management skills, with the confidence to lead the management of complex tenders.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure accurate price estimates are developed with clear communication of risk profiles, contingency allowances, and margin.

  • Ensure all non-price criteria are clear, accurate, compelling, and persuasive.

  • Identify and assess public and private tender opportunities aligned with business goals.

  • Coordinate and manage inputs from internal teams.

  • Coordinate site inspections and manage risk assessments throughout the bid process.

  • Lead client presentations, negotiations, and communication during the pre-contract phase.

The Benefits

  • Contribute to high-profile marine infrastructure projects across Australia and internationally.

  • Apply your practical construction knowledge to influence how projects are planned, priced and won.

  • Work alongside an experienced team across engineering, estimating and project delivery.

  • Take ownership of the bid process and make a direct contribution to the company's growth and strategic direction.

  • Enjoy the opportunity to broaden your experience and develop your career within a growing business.

All applications will be treated in the strictest confidence.

We look forward to speaking with you.
