Job summary

West Recruitment is seeking an experienced professional to lead bid coordination and estimating for mechanical projects. You will own the process from enquiry through tender submission and work closely with sales, engineering, and delivery teams.

This hands-on role requires strong technical knowledge of mechanical equipment and cost estimation, with a focus on delivering competitive proposals for projects typically valued from several hundred thousand to over a million dollars.

About Your New Role

Reporting into the Sales Team, you will lead bid coordination and estimating for mechanical projects, taking ownership of the process from initial scope review through to tender submission. This is a hands‑on role for someone who combines mechanical estimating capability with commercial awareness, supplier engagement, and the ability to coordinate winning bids across multiple internal teams. You will play a key role in helping the business secure larger project packages, typically valued at $500k to $1m+.

What You Will Be Responsible For

• Leading bid coordination and estimating from enquiry through to tender submission
• Developing accurate estimates, budgets, and competitive project proposals
• Sourcing and evaluating supplier quotations for equipment, fabrication, piping, valves, and associated packages
• Reviewing technical scopes, drawings, specifications, and supplier submissions
• Coordinating input from sales, engineering, and project delivery teams
• Identifying commercial risks, scope gaps, and opportunities to improve bid competitiveness

About You

• Proven experience in mechanical estimating, tendering, or bid management within engineering or industrial environments
• Strong understanding of mechanical equipment, fabrication, piping, pumps, or related systems
• Experience coordinating supplier quotations and developing project cost estimates
• Confident reviewing technical documentation and validating project scope
• Commercially minded, proactive, and comfortable managing multiple tenders simultaneously
• Able to work autonomously while collaborating with sales, engineering, and project teams
