Job summary

Fluence is seeking a BESS Field Service Technician to perform inspections, maintenance, and field service on high‑voltage energy storage systems across Hunter Valley and Sydney areas. Travel to project sites and collaborate with contractors to ensure safe, reliable operation.

You will troubleshoot, interpret schematics, and support commissioning activities while employing strict safety standards and OEM software tools in a dynamic renewable energy environment.

Qualifications

• Current A-Class Electrician Licence with HV experience.
• Experience in energy, renewables or battery storage.
• Strong knowledge of HV switching and electrical safety standards.
• Proven troubleshooting ability in technical environments.
• Ability to interpret electrical drawings, service manuals and docs.
• Valid driver's licence and willingness to travel to project sites.

Responsibilities

• Perform inspections, preventive maintenance, repairs and field service on BESS and HV/MV/LV systems.
• Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues with diagnostics and tools.
• Conduct HV switching in line with safety, regulatory, and operational requirements.
• Maintain maintenance, switching, permit, and technical records.
• Identify system issues to minimise downtime and optimise performance.
• Support commissioning activities including testing and validation.
• Collaborate with internal teams, contractors and stakeholders for safe operations.

Responsibilities

• Perform inspections, preventive maintenance, repairs, and field service activities on BESS and associated HV, MV, and LV systems.
• Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues using appropriate diagnostic and testing tools.
• Conduct HV switching activities in accordance with safety, regulatory, and operational requirements.
• Maintain accurate maintenance, switching, permit, and technical records.
• Identify and address system issues to minimise downtime and optimise performance.
• Support commissioning activities, including testing, validation, and optimisation of new installations.
• Collaborate with internal teams, contractors, and stakeholders to support safe and efficient operations.

Requirements

• Current A-Class Electrician Licence with relevant HV experience.
• Experience within the energy, renewable energy, engineering, or battery storage sectors.
• Strong knowledge of HV switching practices and electrical safety standards.
• Demonstrated troubleshooting and problem-solving capability in technical environments.
• Ability to interpret electrical and mechanical drawings, service manuals, and technical documentation.
• Valid driver's licence and willingness to travel to project sites.

Additional Requirements

• Experience supporting commissioning activities.
• Experience supervising contractors and coordinating permit-to-work processes.
• Proficiency with computer-based systems, monitoring platforms, and OEM software.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills.
• Ability to work effectively in diverse and inclusive environments.
• Familiarity with renewable energy, BESS technologies, and relevant industry standards.
