Job summary

Centacare Brisbane is seeking an experienced Behaviour Support Practitioner to join our team in a full-time role based at Woolloongabba with hybrid work options. You will conduct functional assessments, develop PBSPs, provide expert behaviour support, and document outcomes.

The role requires a bachelor’s degree, current registration, 3+ years’ experience, and clearance checks. Travel across Metro North and surrounding areas is required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Psychology, Behavioural Sciences or Education.
  • Current registration as a Behaviour Support Practitioner (Core/Proficient).
  • At least 3 years' experience in a Behaviour Support role, children experience preferred.
  • Ability to obtain Driver's Licence and required checks (Blue Card, NDIS, police).

Responsibilities

  • Conduct intake and functional assessments with stakeholders.
  • Develop PBSPs in line with legislative requirements.
  • Create emergency and contingency plans and communicate with stakeholders.
  • Advise on strategies to improve client quality of life.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and report progress to manager.

About The Role

Due to significant growth and high demand for our services, Centacare is seeking an experienced Behaviour Support Practitioner to join our team.

Job Title: Behaviour Support Practitioner

Location: Woolloongabba Office (Hybrid - WFH available) + Travel across Metro North, Caboolture & Redlands.

Employment Type: Full-time (37.5 hours/week)

Salary: $88,000 + Superannuation + Not for Profit Salary Packaging

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct intake and comprehensive functional assessments, including direct observation and consultation with key stakeholders (families, support workers, informal decision-makers).
  • Develop Positive Behaviour Support Plans (PBSPs) in accordance with legislative requirements for clients.
  • Develop and communicate emergency and contingency plans, positive behaviour support strategies to relevant stakeholders, to ensure appropriate support for PBSP implementation.
  • Provide expert, timely advice on managing challenging behaviours and recommending strategies that enhance the client's overall quality of life.
  • Maintain accurate, timely documentation of all client outputs and assessments, promptly reporting progress or unmet targets to the Allied Health and PBS Manager.

Skills And Experience
  • Minimum bachelor's degree in Social work, Psychology, Behavioural Sciences, Education or other relevant qualification.
  • Must hold existing registration as a Core or Proficient Level Behaviour Support Practitioner.
  • At least 3 years of demonstrated experience in a Behaviour Support role, with specific experience working with children highly regarded.
  • Strong understanding of applied behaviour analysis and trauma-informed practices.
  • Proven ability to exercise sound, evidence-based judgment, analyse client records, and write comprehensive reports and PBSPs.
  • Requirements: Ability to obtain and maintain a current Driver's License, Blue Card, NDIS Worker Screening Clearance, an Australian Federal Police criminal history check, and evidence of the right to work in Australia.
