Heidelberg Materials Australia in Sale, Victoria, is seeking a hands-on team member with leadership potential for a full-time role. You will oversee concrete batching, operate a front-end loader, and manage deliveries while communicating with customers.

Training is provided and a clear path to leadership exists within the organization. The role starts with early mornings and occasional Saturday work, offering on-the-job training, career progression, and a supportive, inclusive workplace.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the day-to-day operation of a concrete batch plant.
  • Operate a front-end loader (training provided).
  • Communicate with customers, take orders, schedule deliveries, resolve queries.
  • Use company systems for batching, scheduling, reporting, and record-keeping.
  • Collaborate with local team and nearby sites, showing leadership and initiative.
  • Promote a strong safety culture and coach others.
  • Ensure products meet quality standards with attention to detail.
  • Monitor plant/equipment performance and coordinate maintenance.
  • Plan, organize and manage maintenance and production tasks including some manual handling.

Job description

We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic, customer-focused team member with strong leadership potential to join the Heidelberg Materials Australia team in Sale, Victoria (approximately 2.5 hours east of Melbourne). This role offers excellent career development opportunities, and we actively look to develop and promote from within. With comprehensive on-the-job training across concrete and quarry materials, plant operations, concrete batching, scheduling, and logistics, this position is an ideal stepping stone into future leadership or supervisory roles within our business. You'll gain valuable hands‑on experience while building a long‑term career in the construction industry. People from all industries are encouraged to apply (including hospitality, logistics, agriculture, supply chain, commerce, fast food, manufacturing, mining, or health). You don't need prior concrete or batching experience - we're looking for the right person with the right attitude, and we'll provide full training. This is a full-time role, Monday to Friday, with early morning starts and rostered Saturday work based on business needs.

Responsibilities
  • Oversee the day‑to‑day operation of a concrete batch plant, taking ownership of outcomes and setting a positive example for others
  • Operate a front‑end loader (training provided if required)
  • Communicate regularly with customers, including taking orders, scheduling deliveries, and resolving queries professionally
  • Use company‑based systems for batching, scheduling, reporting, and record‑keeping
  • Work collaboratively with a high‑performing local team and neighbouring sites, showing leadership and initiative
  • Promote a strong safety culture and demonstrate coaching or mentoring capability
  • Ensure products meet strict quality standards, with strong attention to detail
  • Monitor plant and equipment performance and coordinate maintenance as required
  • Plan, organise, and manage maintenance and production tasks, including some manual handling

  • Competitive hourly rate starting at $30.35, with higher rates up to $33.36/hour based on experience and competency
