Job summary

Macs Beach Cafe is seeking a hands-on cafe supervisor to ensure a great customer experience across venues. You will train junior staff, manage rosters with the manager, and step in as acting supervisor when the cafe manager is away, ensuring open/close and quality output at all times.

You will welcome customers by understanding coffee interests, educate on the menu, maintain stock and equipment, and seek opportunities to enhance the cafe's offerings and reputation.

Qualifications

• Experience in cafe/coffee shop environment preferred.
• Ability to train junior staff and supervise peers.
• Strong customer service and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Welcomes customers by determining their coffee interests and needs.
• Educates customers by presenting and explaining the coffee drink menu; answering questions.
• Prepares and serves coffee following prescribed recipes and rotating weekend offerings.
• Supports takeaway and retail sales by explaining coffee beans and brew methods; demonstrates techniques.
• Manages stock by replenishing coffee beans, milk, tea and extras; monitors stock levels.
• Keeps equipment operating by following operating instructions and routine maintenance.
• Maintains a safe and healthy work environment by following sanitation standards.
• Enhances cafe reputation by taking ownership of new requests and adding value.
• Trains junior staff to develop skills in coffee.
• Roster and recruitment input with manager to ensure venues are rostered.
• Acts as supervisor when cafe manager is not present, ensuring great customer experience and quality output.

Improves quality results by studying, evaluating, and redesigning processes; implementing changes; maintaining and improving the appearance of the cafe and coffee section

Must love cold foam and new beverage creations

Educates customers by presenting and explaining the coffee drink menu; answering questions

Prepares and sells coffee by following our specialty coffee suppliers prescribed recipes and preparation techniques, in additional to prepping batchy and cold brew on rotating single origins for the weekend - supplier available anytime for training, in-depth collaboration or refinement our coffee offering

Supports sale of takeaway coffees and specialty coffee retail products by explaining differences in coffee beans and coffee preparation; demonstrating how to get the best out of the brew

Generates revenue by attracting new customers; defining new and expanded services and products.

Maintains inventories by replenishing coffee beans, milk, tea and extras supply; stocking coffee retail and monitoring sell-through and reporting stock needs back to manager

Keeps equipment operating by following operating instructions; troubleshooting breakdowns; maintaining supplies; performing preventive maintenance; calling for repairs.

Maintains a safe and healthy work environment by following organisation standards and sanitation regulations

Enhances coffee shop reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value

Training of junior staff wishing to develop skills on coffee

Roster and recruitment input working with manager to ensure venues are rostered
