Job summary

Macchina in NSW is seeking an enthusiastic barista to join our hands-on cafe team. You will craft great coffees, take orders, and help with front-of-house tasks to keep service flowing.

This role requires a calm, efficient individual who can handle busy periods with a smile. Responsibilities include coffee preparation, customer service, POS operation, food service, and maintaining a clean, well-organised dining area across shifts.

Qualifications

• Barista experience in a cafe environment.
• Confident on a coffee machine during busy service.
• Excellent customer service and friendly demeanor.
• Reliable, punctual and able to work with a team.

Responsibilities

• Make consistently high quality coffees at a fast pace.
• Take customer orders and operate the POS system.
• Provide friendly and professional customer service.
• Deliver food and drinks to tables.
• Clear and reset tables and assist with cleaning when required.
• Prepare cold drinks, smoothies and coffee beverages.
• Assist with takeaway orders and opening/closing duties.
• Work closely with kitchen and front of house teams.

This is a hands-on role for someone who enjoys working in a fast paced cafe environment, loves dealing with customers and is happy to jump in wherever needed. A true all rounder who can confidently make great coffee while also helping with front of house, food service and the general day to day running of the cafe.

Key responsibilities

• Making consistently high quality coffees at a fast pace
• Taking customer orders and operating the POS system
• Providing friendly and professional customer service
• Running food and drinks to tables
• Clearing and resetting tables
• Preparing cold drinks, smoothies and coffee beverages
• Assisting with takeaway orders
• Washing dishes and assisting with general cleaning when required
• Opening and or closing duties depending on your shifts
• Working closely with our kitchen and front of house team

About you

• Has previous barista and cafe experience
• Can confidently work on a coffee machine during busy service
• Understands coffee quality, milk texture and presentation
• Is comfortable making multiple coffees quickly while maintaining quality
• Is friendly and positive
• Works well under pressure
• Is reliable and punctual
• Can work independently as well as part of a team
