Job summary

Mindil Beach Casino Resort in Darwin, NT, is seeking a Commis Chef to join the banquets team. You will work under senior chefs to craft dishes and maintain high presentation and food safety standards.

This full-time position requires a Level 3 Cookery certificate (or higher) and a Food Safety certificate, with a 7-day roster including evenings and weekends. Benefits include meals on shift, parking, and access to development opportunities.

Qualifications

• Previous experience as a Commis Chef is required and proven experience in an a' la carte restaurant or function service is preferred.
• Solid background in kitchen operations.
• Minimum Level 3 Certificate in Commercial Cookery.
• Food Safety certificate, or willing to obtain at onboarding.
• A passion for food and creative flair.
• Able to work across a 7-day roster including evenings/nights, weekends and public holidays.

Responsibilities

• Prepare a range of dishes in a high-volume production setting.
• Follow recipes for menu preparation, ensuring adherence to cooking guidelines and standards.
• Execute food preparation tasks, showcasing expertise in food presentation.
• Maintain consistent cleanliness and hygiene standards in the kitchen area.
• Ensure HACCP and WHS compliance, displaying a strong commitment to meeting Food Safety standards including conducting temperature and quality checks and effectively managing cross-contamination.
