China Merchants Bank in Sydney is seeking an Operations Officer to support day-to-day banking operations, including onboarding, payments, settlements and treasury/loan back-office tasks. You will maintain records, assist audits, and help ensure compliance with regulatory controls.

The role requires 1–2 years in banking operations, knowledge of payments systems (SWIFT, RITS, Austraclear) and bilingual proficiency in English and Mandarin.

Qualifications

• 1–2 years in banking ops or related financial services.
• Familiarity with payment processing and settlement.
• Knowledge of SWIFT, RITS, Austraclear preferred.
• Understanding of KYC/AML/CTF and sanctions.
• Bachelor's degree required.
• Strong organizational and time-management skills.
• Excellent written and spoken English and Mandarin.

Responsabilités

• Process client onboarding and account opening, maintenance and closure.
• Process inward/outward domestic payments and clearing transactions.
• Process inward/outward international payments and SWIFT messages.
• Perform treasury back-office activities: confirmation, matching, settlement, reconciliation.
• Handle loan back-office activities: drawdowns, repayments, settlements, interest/fees.
• Maintain accurate records and assist with reports.
• Identify discrepancies and escalate risks to supervisors.
• Assist with audit, compliance and operational reviews.
• Provide cover for other Operations/Trade Services team members.
