You will manage rostering, stock, pricing with group management, and drive sales while maintaining Food Safety and hygiene compliance. This role requires hands-on leadership, budget awareness, and a passion for artisan baked goods.

Qualifications

• Formal diploma in Retail Management, Hospitality Management, or Business Administration.

SUNDAY ORGANIC BAKERY PTY LTD The Sunday Organic Bakery Pty Ltd (trading as Sunday Sustainable Bakery) is seeking a dynamic and experienced Retail Bakery Manager to lead our team and ensure the smooth operation of our front-of-house. This role is integral to delivering the outstanding products and customer experience the Sunday Sustainable Bakery is known for.

You will oversee daily store operations, manage staff, maintain high service standards, and drive sales performance.

Position Title: Bakery Manager Employer: Sunday Sustainable Bakery Salary (not including superannuation): $80,000 Position location: 101 Jonson Street, Byron Bay, NSW 2481 Hours per week: 40

Benefits & Responsibilities

• Lead, train, and motivate a team of staff to deliver exceptional customer service and operational excellence. Assist group management with staff recruitment.
• Create and maintain staff rosters and shift allocations to optimize efficiency while managing wage costs. Determine the product mix based on customer demand, seasonal trends, and sales performance. Monitor and maintain stock levels, ensuring optimal inventory to meet customer needs while minimizing waste.
• Maintain records of stock levels and financial transactions, ensuring transparency and accuracy. Develop and implement sales strategies to drive revenue growth and customer engagement. Work with Group Management to set pricing strategies while ensuring profitability and market competitiveness.
• Oversee the sale of our products to customers, providing expert advice on product use and recommendations. Handle customer inquiries, complaints, and feedback professionally, resolving issues efficiently to maintain customer satisfaction. Responsible for cost control, budgeting and profitability of the store.
• Assist the group’s accountants in the preparation of financial reports, sales trends, and expenses to make informed business decisions. Ensure the store meets service standards, maintaining high levels of product quality and presentation. Ensure the store is visually appealing, clean, and well-organized, aligning with brand standards.
• Enforce occupational health and safety regulations, ensuring a safe working environment for staff and customers. Implement and maintain workplace policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with food safety and hygiene regulations. Report directly to the owner, providing regular updates on sales, staffing, and operational performance.
• Work closely with the baking team to align daily production with customer demand and stock levels.

Qualifications & Experience

To be considered for this role, candidates must meet the following criteria: Formal qualifications in: Minimum diploma level qualification in Retail Management, Hospitality Management, or Business Administration (or equivalent industry experience).

Additional certifications: The ideal candidate must hold a valid Work Health and Safety certification or have completed relevant training in workplace safety.

Retail Management Experience: Minimum 1 years of experience in a management/leading role within a bakery, café, patisserie, or hospitality environment.

Candidates with experience in an artisan bakery or specialty food setting are preferred.

Leadership & People Skills: Proven ability to lead and supervise a team, delegate tasks in a fast-paced environment.

Customer Service Excellence: Passion for delivering an exceptional customer experience, ensuring every customer feels valued and welcomed.

Sales & Business Acumen: Experience in meeting sales targets, managing budgets, and implementing growth strategies.

Organizational Skills: Ability to manage multiple priorities efficiently, ensuring smooth daily operations without compromising quality.

Food Handling Knowledge: Strong knowledge of food safety regulations, hygiene practices, and allergen awareness in a food retail setting.

Availability: Flexibility to work early mornings, weekends, and peak holiday periods.
