Job summary

Nine is seeking a Software Engineer for a 12-month contract to help digitise and productise 120 years of Australian media. You will build backend services in Go, integrate with AWS/GCP, and deploy in Kubernetes within an autonomous Agile squad.

You will work on audio, video, and metadata processing pipelines, ensuring scalable, robust systems across the Nine media archive. Hybrid work options apply in Australia.

Qualifications

• 2 years of experience in software engineering roles.
• Proficiency in scripting / coding languages: Go, JavaScript, React, Python, Bash.
• Experience with AWS and/or GCP services; PostgreSQL knowledge.
• Infrastructure as code tools: Terraform; CI/CD pipelines and automation (Jenkins, TeamCity, GitLab CI).
• Monitoring/logging tools: Prometheus, Grafana, ELK stack; containerisation with Docker and Kubernetes.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain high-performance Golang backend services and APIs.
• Develop cloud-native solutions on AWS; create resilient, auto-scaling microservices.
• Produce automated modules for media processing; ensure high-quality delivery to partners.
• Participate in full deployment lifecycle; ship code to test and production Kubernetes environments.
• Collaborate in an autonomous Agile squad with product owners and peers.
