Cognizant is seeking a Context Engineer for a major banking program in Sydney/Melbourne. You will design, build and support enterprise cloud data solutions, delivering batch and near real‑time pipelines, data integration, modelling and governance across Azure and related services.

You will lead end-to-end data platform work, mentor engineers, and drive best practices for performance, data quality and cost optimization in an Azure-first environment.

Competenze

• Strong experience in data engineering, design or warehousing.

We're partnering with a leading consulting organisation to engage an experienced Context Engineer for a major banking program. This is a hands‑on opportunity for a strong data engineering professional who enjoys building scalable cloud data solutions and working on complex enterprise platforms.About the Role

You’ll design, build and support enterprise data solutions across cloud and on‑premises environments, delivering batch and near real‑time pipelines, data integration, modelling, governance and performance optimisation.Key Responsibilities

• Design and develop scalable data pipelines and integration solutions.
• Build ETL/ELT processes using modern cloud technologies.
• Develop and maintain data models, mappings and documentation.
• Implement data quality, governance and security controls.
• Optimise SQL, cloud platforms and data warehouse performance.
• Troubleshoot production issues and support critical data services.
• Collaborate with business and technical stakeholders.
• Mentor team members and promote engineering best practices.

Skills & Experience

• Strong experience in Data Engineering, Solution Design or Data Warehousing.
• Advanced SQL and data transformation expertise.
• Hands‑on experience with Snowflake, Python, Spark, Azure Data Factory and Databricks.
• Experience across Azure, AWS and/or GCP environments.
• Strong understanding of data modelling, governance and data quality.
• Experience with enterprise databases and cloud data platforms.
• Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills.

Highly regarded:

• Apache Flink, Redis or real‑time streaming technologies.
• Teradata, Oracle or SQL Server.
• Banking, risk, fraud, AML/KYC or other regulated industry experience.

In this position you’ll own large‑scale data pipelines, use modern cloud services to ingest and transform data, and maintain an end‑to‑end data platform on Azure from ingestion to analytics. You’ll oversee a team of technically skilled engineers, mentor junior team members, and provide technical leadership for data platform architecture and design across multiple services, covering Azure Data Factory, Azure Databricks, Azure SQL, Azure Synapse, and Azure AD.
