Job summary

Babcock Australia & New Zealand is seeking an experienced Structures Engineer (AME) to join our aviation team. In a dynamic maintenance environment, you will provide specialist structural maintenance across aircraft fleets, including sheet metal and composite repairs, corrosion prevention, modifications, and interior/exterior preservation.

Reporting to the Line Manager/LAME, you will contribute to airworthiness and safe delivery of services, with occasional travel to other Babcock locations and

Qualifications

• Valid trade certification relevant to aircraft structural maintenance.
• Experience as Structures AME with sheet metal and composite repairs.
• Rotary-wing aircraft experience is highly desirable.
• Experience mentoring apprentices and developing trades personnel.
• Aircraft painting experience and qualifications preferred.
• Knowledge of aviation maintenance regulations, including CASA guidance material.
• Ability to read maintenance instructions, drawings, and technical documentation.
• Strong communication and teamwork with proactive problem-solving.
• Commitment to safety, quality and airworthiness.

Responsibilities

• Perform structural maintenance including sheet metal and composite repairs.
• Support engineering activities and provide technical assistance.
• Ensure maintenance aligns with SMS and QM systems.
• Comply with CARs, CASRs, Civil Aviation Orders and CASA guidance.
• Carry out work safely with high workmanship and airworthiness.
• Provide mentoring and on-the-job training to Apprentices and AMEs.
• Maintain currency on manuals and technical publications.
• Support continuous improvement and team performance.
