Job summary

Avaloq Senior Engineer role at Westpac in Sydney (open to Melbourne, Gold Coast, Adelaide) requiring 8 years' Avaloq experience. Design, develop and test banking solutions, lead Avaloq design and delivery, review code and mentor juniors. Agile, CI/CD, and cross-team collaboration are core.

On-site 2–3 days/week with flexible locations to suit business needs. Responsibilities include ensuring architectural compliance, risk controls and high-quality deployments across the full lifecycle of Avaloq

Qualifications

• Eight years' hands-on Avaloq Core Platform development, customization and implementation experience.
• Strong software development, application design and systems integration experience.
• Hands-on experience across Avaloq modules, ICE, SQL Developer, Oracle, PL/SQL and the Avaloq change lifecycle.
• Ability to analyze complex requirements and propose effective technical solutions.
• Proven code review expertise and leadership of coding standards.
• Excellent problem-solving, troubleshooting and technical consultation skills.
• Clear, engaging communication and mentoring ability.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop and test reliable banking solutions supporting next-gen technology.
• Lead Avaloq solution design and delivery; review code and resolve complex issues.
• Mentor junior developers and guide testing, training and deployment.

• Location: Sydney-based role, open to other locations like Melbourne, Gold Coast and Adelaide

What’s the role?

As an Avaloq Senior Engineer, you will design, develop and test reliable banking solutions that support Westpac’s next-generation technology capabilities. You will lead Avaloq solution design and delivery, review code, troubleshoot complex issues and apply strong expertise across Avaloq modules, Oracle, PL/SQL, ICE, SQL Developer, release management and core banking operations.

Additionally, you’ll work in an Agile environment, applying CI/CD and DevOps practices to deliver secure, maintainable and compliant solutions. You’ll collaborate with business users, technology teams, vendors and the Avaloq product team to translate requirements, improve platform integration and ensure smooth implementation.

You will provide technical leadership, mentor junior developers, support incident resolution and guide testing, training and deployment. You will drive continuous improvement, challenge existing processes and ensure Avaloq solutions meet architectural standards, business needs, risk obligations and customer expectations across the full application and service lifecycle effectively.

What do I need?

• Ideally eight years of hands‑on Avaloq Core Platform development, customisation and implementation experience.
• Strong software development, application design and systems integration experience.
• Strong hands‑on experience across Avaloq modules, ICE, SQL Developer, Oracle, PL/SQL and the Avaloq change lifecycle.
• Proven ability to analyse complex requirements and recommend effective technical solutions.
• Strong code review expertise with experience leading quality control and coding standards.
• Excellent problem‑solving, troubleshooting and technical consultation skills.
• Clear and engaging written and verbal communication, with the ability to guide and mentor developers.
