Job summary

Travis Motor Group Frankston is seeking an experienced automotive technician to perform routine maintenance, diagnose mechanical and electrical issues, and repair and reassemble engines and components. You will use diagnostic tools and testing devices to ensure roadworthiness and compliance.

Qualifications

• Proficiency with hand and power tools, diagnostic gear and computerized testing devices.
• Knowledge of brakes, steering and suspension systems.
• Ability to identify mechanical or electrical issues accurately.
• Understanding and applying safety regulations and practices.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine maintenance such as oil changes, lubrication and tune-ups.
• Repair or replace worn parts, reassemble components, consult service manuals.
• Diagnose mechanical and electrical issues in engines and components.
• Disassemble and inspect engine assemblies, transmissions, steering systems and other parts.
• Reassemble engines and components after repairs.
• Test and adjust parts to ensure proper operation.
• Use diagnostic computers to assist in diagnosing and testing components.
• Inspect vehicles to determine roadworthiness and outline required repairs.
• Respond quickly to breakdown calls for on-site service.

Job Duties:

Performing routine maintenance, such as oil changes, lubrication, and engine tune-ups, to enhance vehicle performance and ensure compliance with emission standards.

Repairing or replacing worn or damaged parts, reassembling mechanical components, and consulting service manuals as necessary.

Diagnosing and identifying mechanical and electrical issues in engines and components.

Disassemble and remove engine assemblies, transmissions, steering systems, and other parts, then inspect each component.

Reassembling engines and components after repairs.

Test and adjust mechanical parts after repairs to ensure proper operation.

Using computers to assist in diagnosing and testing components.

Inspect vehicles to issue roadworthiness certificates or outline necessary repairs for compliance.

Quick respond to vehicle breakdown calls for on-site service

Skill required & well versed with

Proficiency in using hand tools, power tools, diagnostic equipment, and computerized testing devices.

Knowledge of working with fluid-powered brakes, steering, and suspension systems.

Ability to accurately identify mechanical or electrical issues

Should know safety regulations and practices.

Qualification

Minimum education should be - Certificate IV in Automotive or higher.

Experience Requirement

You should have at least 2 years of full-time experience.
