Job summary

Bapcor is seeking a Product Development Engineer for a 12-month fixed-term contract based in Springvale, Melbourne. You will join the R&D team to design, validate and launch innovative aftermarket automotive products across Australia and NZ.

Reporting to the R&D Manager, you will collaborate with Engineering, Product, Procurement, Quality and Marketing to ensure customer needs and regulatory requirements are met.

Qualifications

• Degree in Mechanical, Automotive or Design Engineering.
• Minimum 3 years' experience in product development or design engineering.
• Experience developing and validating engineered products.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement abilities.
• Strong attention to detail and project management skills.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop automotive products from concept through to market release.
• Create detailed 3D models and technical drawings using SolidWorks.
• Support prototyping, testing and product validation activities.
• Conduct engineering analysis and design reviews.
• Perform FEA simulations to evaluate product performance.
• Ensure designs meet compliance and regulatory requirements.
• Collaborate with suppliers and internal stakeholders.
• Maintain engineering documentation and technical reports.
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across product development processes.
