Job summary

Ampersand Ltd in Clayton, VIC is seeking an Automation Electrician to lead electrical wiring, robot and PLC setup, and site commissioning for projects across Australia.

You will work with a dedicated projects team, travelling interstate and internationally as required, to deliver advanced automation solutions for manufacturing partners. This role offers a permanent, full‑time position with exposure to cutting‑edge robotics and control systems.

Qualifications

• A-grade electrical licence is essential.
• PLC programming experience (Siemens, Allen-Bradley, Omron or similar).
• Robot setup and programming experience (Fanuc, ABB, KUKA, Yaskawa or similar).
• Experience in automation, machine building or industrial controls.
• Familiarity with Australian machinery safety standards.
• Willingness to travel interstate and internationally.

• Build and wire electrical control panels and perform field wiring for robot cells and automation systems.
• Set up robots and program robots and PLCs.
• Support the electrical design and documentation for projects.
• Install and commission systems on site, locally and occasionally overseas.
• Work with suppliers on components, lead times and cost.

The role

Reporting to the Engineering Manager, you’ll be the electrical and programming specialist in the projects team, taking automation systems from the workshop to the customer’s site.

What you’ll do

• Build and wire electrical control panels and do the field wiring for robot cells and automation systems

• Support the electrical design and documentation for projects
