Job summary

St Thomas More Catholic Primary School in Margaret River is seeking an Education Assistant to support a Year Two student with a disability and assist with small-group activities. The role is temporary, part-time, Monday to Thursday, 8:30am–11:50am, in a Catholic education setting.

Ideal candidates hold a Certificate IV in School Based Education Support, current Working With Children clearance, and accreditation to work in a Catholic school.

Qualifications

• Demonstrate knowledge of effective strategies for supporting students on the Autism Spectrum.
• Demonstrate compassion, patience, flexibility and a positive attitude, with the ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
• Demonstrate a genuine passion for working with students in the early years of primary school and supporting their learning, development and wellbeing.
• Demonstrate strong initiative, organisation and effective time management skills, with the ability to work independently and respond appropriately to changing needs.
• Bring energy, enthusiasm and a sense of fun to the role, building positive relationships with students and creating an engaging and supportive learning environment.

Responsibilities

• Provide individualised support to a Year Two student with a disability and work with small groups as needed.
• Work closely with the classroom teacher and other school staff to implement appropriate learning strategies and maintain a positive learning environment.
