Job summary

Hyderabad House – Indian Cuisine & Authentic Biryani is expanding with a new Melbourne branch. The Chef will oversee planning, preparation, cooking and presentation of authentic Indian and Hyderabadi dishes in a fast-paced environment.

We seek candidates with a Diploma in Commercial Cookery and at least two years of relevant experience, including biryani preparation. Salary is $80,000 per annum plus superannuation, with visa sponsorship possibly available.

Qualifications

• Diploma level qualification in Commercial Cookery or a relevant field.
• At least two years of relevant experience as a Chef.
• Experience preparing biryani and other Indian dishes.
• Strong knowledge of food preparation and a broad range of cooking methods.
• Knowledge of stock control, ordering, food storage and kitchen operations.
• Solid understanding of food safety, hygiene and sanitation requirements.
• Excellent organisational and time-management skills.
• Ability to work efficiently under pressure in a busy kitchen.
• Good communication and teamwork skills.
• Commitment to high standards of quality, consistency and presentation.

Responsibilities

• Plan, prepare and cook authentic Indian and Hyderabadi cuisine.
• Prepare biryanis and other Indian dishes with traditional and specialty items.
• Organise kitchen activities according to service requirements.
• Monitor taste, freshness, quality and presentation throughout prep and service.
• Follow recipes and maintain consistency in flavour, portion size and presentation.
