Job summary

POP & Co, Hawthorn-based accounting and outsourcing firm, seeks an experienced Accountant to join a fast-expanding team on a full-time basis. You will manage accounts, prepare financials, and handle payroll and tax compliance for SMBs and HNWI clients across industries.

The role requires 3–4 years of accounting experience, proficiency in Xero/MYOB/QuickBooks and strong communication skills. You will work in a collaborative, client-focused environment with opportunities to streamline processes

Qualifications

  • Must hold a Bachelor's degree in Accounting/Finance or equivalent.
  • Full or partial qualification in CIMA/ACCA/CPA is preferred.
  • 3–4 years of accounting experience, ideally with Australian accounts experience.
  • Proficiency in Xero, MYOB, QuickBooks and advanced Excel required.
  • Strong communication skills with clients and ability to meet deadlines.

Responsibilities

  • Manage accounts payable and receivable, reconciliations, and month-end closing.
  • Prepare and review financial statements in accordance with Australian Accounting Standards.
  • Process payroll and lodge Single Touch Payroll.
  • Prepare and review BAS/IAS, P&L, balance sheet and aging reports.
  • Support monthly, quarterly and annual financial reporting.
  • Ensure compliance with Australian taxation laws, GST, and ATO guidelines.
  • Assist with audits and compliance requirements.
  • Communicate with clients to ensure excellent service delivery.
  • Maintain documentation and client confidentiality.
  • Identify process improvements and support automation initiatives.

Job Description

POP & Co is an established outsourcing business based in Hawthorn, Australia, providing a range of services from accounting to digital marketing. Our client base consists of small to medium businesses and high net worth individuals, across a variety of industries.

We are looking for an experienced, dynamic and organised Accountant to join our fast expanding team, on a full-time basis.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage accounts payable and receivable, reconciliations, and month-end closing activities.
  • Prepare and review financial statements in accordance with Australian Accounting Standards.
  • Process payroll and lodge Single Touch Payroll.
  • Prepare and review BAS/IAS, P&L, balance sheet, and aging reports.
  • Support monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting.
  • Ensure compliance with Australian taxation laws, GST, and ATO guidelines.
  • Assist with internal/external audits and compliance requirements.
  • Communicate effectively with clients via email, calls, and meetings to ensure excellent service delivery.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and uphold client confidentiality.
  • Identify process improvements and support automation/efficiency initiatives.
  • Ability to understand client and jurisdiction requirements and conform to them for all deliverables.
  • Analyse the MI data collated by the team on regular basis to detect trends and suggesting improvisations.
Key Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting/Finance
  • Full/ Partial qualification in CIMA/ACCA/CPA
  • 3 - 4 years of accounting experience, ideally with exposure to Australian accounts
  • Proficiency in Xero, MYOB, QuickBooks, and advanced Excel skills
  • Strong communication skills (written and verbal) with client-facing experience
  • Ability to work accurately under deadlines and manage multiple priorities
  • Strong attention to detail and analytical mindset
  • Tech-savvy and comfortable using numerous online platforms for research outreach
  • Ability to work autonomously and with minimal supervision
  • A team player with a can do attitude
